Flashforward Premiers 24 September 2009

For those of us who are addicted to LOST, and we all know who we are, the premiere of Flashforward on September 24th is an eagerly anticipated event. Not only does it have our beloved Lost alumni, Dominic Monahan and Sonya Walger, appearing (what better reason to watch, I ask you), but it also has the most original concept I have seen in a long time.

Everyone on Earth blacks out at the same time for exactly 2 minutes and 17 seconds, their consciousness flashing ahead six months into the future. What they see and the ramifications change everything for everyone. Some like what they see. Others do not like the glimpse they catch. Still, at least one of them didn't see anything at all. And remember that at least 40,000 don't survive the flashforward at all!

Besides the previously mentioned LOST alumni, we see John Cho (Star Trek's Sulu), Joseph Feinnes (yummy), Jack Davenport (Pirates of the Caribbean), Courtney B Vance (whom I recall was in The Hunt For Red October), Mad Men's Peyton List, Brotherhood's Brian O'Byrne, Zachary Knighton (Life On Mars) and newcomer, Christine Woods (whom I've never really heard of). To be honest, other than those who have appeared on LOST, I've only heard of the first four cast members I've listed here.

Some are calling this the dream cast, others are skeptical. I for one, am hopeful. Flashforward has already reached out and grabbed my attention, now I NEED it to keep it.

This means that I expect Flashforward to be at least half as good as LOST. I expect to be thinking about each episode for days after it airs. I expect to be searching the net for answers. I expect to spend endless hours re-watching. I expect to be forming theories about exactly what caused the entire world to lose consciousness and see into the future. I have high expectations.

Only 26 days until we are either pleasantly surprised or bitterly disappointed about those two hours we will never get back.

What do you think we will see?

  1. My sister told me about this one, but I wasn't really interested until just now. One of my big complaints about Lost is simply this: not enough Penny. If she's in it, I'm in..
